Dr. Meena Shah received her
Medical Degree from Karnatak University in 1978 with a
specialization in Pediatrics. She served as a doctor
in the Copper Mines Hospital in Zambia and at a Children's
Cancer Ward in Plymouth, UK before settling in Ahmedabad,
India in 1980. Dr. Shah established a private practice
from 1980 to 1992 as a Pediatrician and also served as
visiting doctor at Civil Hospital, V.S. Hospital, and
Rajasthan Hospital.
Trained in Prenatal Care, Dr. Shah started the
first Prenatal and Childbirth Training Classes in Ahmedabad. Since 1982,
over 3,000 women have benefited from these classes. Other projects
included:

childbirth video done in partnership with Cadilla

Low Calorie Recipes - developed for Sweet &
Low and Amul Dairy
Since 1992, Dr. Shah has worked to promote
holistic healthcare for men, women, and children via seminars, books, articles,
videos, and television with a comprehensive focus on physical, mental,
emotional, and social well-being. She founded
Medico-Media - a
Health & Media company with the motto "Health by Choice, not by Chance."
In 2000, she also partnered with the Municipal
Corporation of Ahmedabad and Johnson & Johnson to train public hospital nurses
in effective care of pregnant women and infants.
Achievements
- Conducted over 2,500 workshops for
Government, Non-Government & Educational Institutes to
promote preventative health care including fitness,
nutrition, stress management, yoga, Blood Pressure Care,
Diabetes Care, Heart Care, and occupational specific
programs.
- Participated in and coordinated more than
500 television shows on Health for Zee TV, E TV, and
Doordarshan.
- Produced more than 20 VCDs & CD ROMs for
preventative health care, knee care, heart care, and other
health topics.
- Authored hundreds of articles on
healthcare, pregnancy care, and child care.
- Trained thousands of women in prenatal
care.
- Works actively with pharmaceutical
companies for health promotion and communication.
- Conducted stress management seminars for
over 20,000 displaced civilians in the aftermath of the 2001
earthquake in Gujarat.
- Award Recipient for Best Documentary on
Pregnancy “Matrutva Na Marge” by Government of Gujarat.
